As a Behavioural Specialist I have extensive experience of working with children with a wide range of learning disabilities, challenging behaviour and anxieties and am passionate about supporting children to develop to their full potential in the areas of communication, emotional health and social interaction which is why I opened The Butterfly Room. The Butterfly room supports children with a wide range of complex needs and behavioural difficulties, such as developmental delay, communication needs, panic attacks, anxiety, TICS, challenging behaviour, Autistic Spectrum Disorder as well as working with typically developing children supporting them with any emotional stress. As well as working as a Specialist, I am also a published researcher and work closely with local research and development teams and universities, and am a visiting lecturer at The University of Hertfordshire. The Butterfly Room is involved with many local support groups for parents with children with ASD and ADD.
The Butterfly room core beliefs are that working with children within a play based environment helps children to explore and express feelings and to develop coping mechanisms. Each therapy package delivered is tailored to meet the individual needs of each child The Butterfly Room is able to provide support to parents and children and advise on their needs by:
Providing therapy sessions for a range of needs
Setting individual plans, implementing strategies and measuring progress.
Supporting childcare settings and schools with managing behaviour.
Providing guidance and interventions appropriate to the children’s needs, e.g.support in signing, PECS, play, social interaction, and behaviour.
